Empty Hand Forms

Fut Sao Wing Chun Kuen has four empty-hand forms. Each form, while teaching the correct shapes and combinations of movements for fighting application, also trains the body to circulate its vital energy, or chi, for wellness and martial power.

The first form, Siu Lim Tao, or Little Transmutation, is an introduction to the entire system. As the student progresses in the training, it becomes apparent that this first form is a summary of the entire system in which the other forms are concealed.

The second form, Chum Kiu, or Depressing Bridge, teaches the student bridging and control of an opponent while also teaching the use of torque, compression and expansion. This form teaches linear and angular footwork, chain kicking, fighting from the center of a circle as well as fighting from the circumference of a circle.

The third form, Bil Gee, or Thrusting Fingers, teaches the student to jump the bridge and use explosiveness, to fight at different levels of stance and angles, and to evade without stepping.

The fourth form, Siu Baat Gwa, or Little Eight Trigrams, teaches the student evasive stepping, trapping and kicking, and to fight from inside and outside of the circle.
